People should treat each other with respect

My wife and I attended the City of Davison public hearing regarding the proposed assessment for the Police and Fire Department. While I don’t necessarily agree with what was proposed as we will pay more in taxes, I understand that additional finances are needed to hire another police officer and to cover additional costs for fire/ambulance runs, etc.

My reason for writing this editorial is to encourage everyone to treat people with respect. At the meeting, some of those who spoke were not treating the council and City Manager with respect.

The old adage that we all should treat others as we want to be treated should be foremost in our day to day conversations with others.

Now, I realize I will probably get backlash from this editorial, but unless we all work together and treat others with respect and common courtesy, we will never be able to move this community forward. — Jim Theolet, Davison
