The Davison Dog Park sits mostly built, waiting for pets and their owners to make use of the facility off Gale Road, but there’s just one catch — there’s no power. Davison Township Supervisor Kurt Soper said a hold-up with Consumers Energy to bring power to the park is all that remains to do. That connection may not happen until sometime in August, he added.

One way or another city officials are going to secure more than $500,000 in government funding for the resurfacing of E. Flint Street. An agreement with the management company the Kroger plaza, at the corner of M-15 and E. Flint Street, to restrict traffic flow from the shopping center’s south entrance/exit has hit a snag, officials said, but one of two contingency plans might keep the city on track for a Spring 2012 project.

Rick Freeman, the newest member of the Davison Township Police Department, isn’t quite sure of the direction but he wants his career in law enforcement. “It’s one of those corny stories, I guess. I just haven’t considered anything else,” said the five-year veteran of the Flint Police Department. Even his wife, Diane, doesn’t see Freeman in any other role. A graduate of Carman-Ainsworth High School, Freeman said he had been attending C.S. Mott Community College intending to get a bachelor’s degree in criminal Justice.

The Davison High School Varsity Baseball team was named a district winner of the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s “Good Sports Are Winners” program.
