Mueller claims the 51st House District seat




GENESEE COUNTY — Republican Mike Mueller will be filling the 51st District State House of Representatives seat after defeating Democrat David Lossing in the Nov. 6 election.

Mueller won the race in a landslide, receiving 62 percent of the vote to Lossing’s 38 percent. At press time, Mueller garnered 15,795 votes compared to Lossing’s 9,852.

Mueller, who resides in Fenton Township, secured the Republican spot in the general election by defeat- ing opponents Drew Shapiro, Ian Shetron and Matthew Anderton in the August primary. He will be filling the seat held by term-limited 51st District Rep. Joseph Graves (R-Argentine Township).

As State House representative, Mueller said he will advocate for the reduction of government regulations on farms and small businesses. His other top priorities include combating the opioid crisis, fixing the state’s infrastructure and providing veterans with employment and better health care.

Mueller, 43, is an 18-year veteran of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department. He is also the owner of Mueller’s Orchard and Cider Mill and the Birchview Outdoor Wedding Event Center in Linden.

The 51st House District includes Linden, Fenton, Fenton Township, Argentine Township, Gaines Township, Clayton Township and Flushing Township in Genesee County; Holly Village, Holly Township, Groveland Township and Rose Township in Oakland County.
