2018-19 Friday Applewood Lecture Series

FLINT — The Mott Community College (MCC) Lifelong Learning office announces the 2018-19 Friday Applewood Lecture Series. The next program in the line-up is: Ric Mixter will present “The Most Famous Rescues on the Great Lakes,” on Friday, Nov.16, 2018, at 10 a.m., featuring the Coast Guard’s finest moments, including the tragic career of the Michigan built cutter “Escanaba”. This series especially designed for senior citizens, but is open to everyone runs through May. Tickets $10 in advance/$20 at the door includes continental breakfast at 9 a.m. prior to each lecture, plus door prizes. To make reservations, call 810-762-0960. — P.S.

Tattoo for animal rescue fundraiser

FLINT — Studio 42 Tattoo, 5150 W. Pierson Rd., will host a special event with proceeds going to Flint City Pits and Streethearts Animal Rescue, Sunday, November 18. First come first serve with the first tattoo being done at 10 a.m., last tattoo being done at 10 p.m. All tattoos are limited to 2 colors, $20 with a mandatory $5 minimum tip for the artist (you are allowed to tip more if you want). No necks, face or ribs. Profits will go to Flint City Pits and Streethearts. Also accepting donations of dog food, toys (Kong, nylabones, stuffed, tug ropes) blankets, beds, kennels, collars, leashes. Artists will be Donny Morrison, Jeremy Lee, Kelly Martin, Andrew Vergara, Shawn Farr. 2018 Annual Santa Run

FLINT — Hosted by First Choice Heating & Cooling Services, a 5k Santa Run will be held Dec. 1 from 12 – 2 p.m. at the Flint YMCA, 411 E. 3rd St. The YMCA Family Santa Run/Walk is an untimed 5K and one-mile event for the entire community! Each participant receives a 5-piece Santa suit to wear during the event so thousands of Santas descend on Downtown Flint to raise money for over 8,000 youth, families and seniors who use the services at the YMCA! This event raises money for the YMCA of Greater Flint scholarship assistance program. This fund provides assistance to youth and families in our community so that they may participate in YMCA programs. Sponsors help make our event a success!
