Genesee County Parks Hosts Second Annual Job Fair

GENESEE COUNTY — The team at Genesee County Parks wants you to ditch that stuffy office job and seize the opportunity to spend some time outdoors this summer. Genesee County Parks is looking for new team members to join them for the upcoming summer season, and the organization will be conducting on-the-spot interviews at two upcoming job fairs for a wide variety of positions.

The first of the two job fairs will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 15, at Crossroads Village in Flint. The second event will be held Friday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Mt. Morris Education & Community Center.

“This will mark our second annual Job Fair, and we offer more than 200 positions each year for our summer season,” said Genesee County Parks Marketing Assistant Hollie Marlett. “Not only is it a great place to work, but you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about Genesee County parks and all they offer, and we also provide employees on-the-job training and flexible hours.”

Positions within the organization vary widely, including opportunities in maintenance, positions at Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad, Wolverine Campground, The Mounds ORV area, boat launch tollbooths and openings at For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum.

“The upcoming job fair event will include on-site interviews, where applicants can interview with as many departments as they would like,” explained Marlett. “These are great jobs for high school or college students, retirees or anyone looking for additional income. We ask that you be at least 16 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Applications will be available at the job fair, or applicants can download a copy at our website.”

“We have positions open all over the county, not just at Crossroads Village,” said Marlett. “And it’s not just available to people that live in Genesee County. If you’re in Birch Run or Frankenmuth, we have several parks that are near you. Also, people can feel free to apply to multiple positions and see which best fits before committing to anything.”

Can’t make it to either job fair? You can still apply. The organization is already accepting applications. Visit www.geneseecountyparks.org/support/ careers/ for a more comprehensive look at available careers.
