GRAND BLANC TWP. — Flint VFW Post 822, which boasts C.S. Mott, veteran of the Spanish-American War, as a founding member, is pleased to announce it is entering its one hundred and first year with an official new website capable of accepting public donations via PayPal directly from the site’s home page.
The website and the helpful information it has to share, along with the ability to accept donations in this way, is a first for a VFW Post that sponsored Golden Gloves boxing matches at the IMA Auditorium and baseball teams to play other local area teams from AC and GM and the like, in parks throughout the city in the 1940s.
The new website, vfw822.org/, can also accommodate paid sponsorships that includes businesses’ or organizations’ very own page on the site with a personal password-protected point of entry 24/7 so keeping messaging timely is a breeze.
Sponsorships cost $360 per year for businesses or organizations; $36 per year for veteran-owned businesses or organizations.
Additional information is available on the website under About/Supporters and Sponsors.
Veterans of World War I and II, Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan have served the Genesee County community through VFW Post 822 and its Centennial Auxiliary for more than 100 years.
VFW Post 822 Auxiliary is a member of the Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce.
The post is open weekly on Wednesdays for burger nights and Fridays for fish fries from 5 p.m. to close, or for drop-off donations.
The veterans and auxiliary meetings take place at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. — L.R.
