Lady Raiders fall to host Kearsley

BURTON – The Flushing girls’ basketball team fell to host Kearsley 55-40 Tuesday night.

Alex Long put Flushing on her back scoring 16 points with two assists, one steal and five rebounds.

Flushing trailed by five, 17-12 after the first quarter and was in a 34-26 hole by halftime. Kearsley never let up in this one outscoring Flushing 15-10 in the third and 6-4 in the fourth.

Thailyia Christensen had eight points, one assist, one steal and three rebounds, Maddie Morrison had four points, one steal and four rebounds and Rebecca Morrish had six points, one assist and six boards. Chipping in with two points apiece were Quincy Davis, Brooklyn Grissom and Taylor Wendling.

Kearsley was led by Mackenzie Ramey’s 23 points. Three other players had eight points apiece.

Last Friday, Flushing edged out Holly 46-43.

Flushing carried the momentum in the first half with a 21-12 first quarter and led 28-20 by halftime. Holly pulled to within four after the third quarter, 38-24 and even though it outscored Flushing 9-8 in the final stanza, Flushing’s first-quarter effort made the difference.

Long led Flushing with 18 points, one assist and four rebounds. She also hit 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. Christensen had nine points, one assist, two steals and five rebounds. Morrish had eight points, three steals and nine rebounds. Davis chipped in with four points, one assist and two rebounds. Morrison had two points, one assist, six rebounds and was 2-for-2 at the stripe. Keeli Lindstrom had three points, two rebounds and hit 1-of-2 at the freethrow line.

Flushing hosts Clio Friday at 6 p.m.
