The Flushing boys took eighth with 206 out of 21 teams at the Greater Flint Championship on Saturday. Brighton was first with 38, Fenton second with 102 and Corunna third with 139.

Carter Johnson led the Flushing pack, taking 29th in 17:14.3. Jordan Buckner was 31st in 17:15.15. Nolan Herr ran a 17:28.72 to take 43rd. In 57th was Hunter Markel with 17:50.54 and Diego Ruelan was 58th in 17:52.12. Kaz Goldyn took 62nd in 17:57.18 and Antonio Aguilar was 75th in 18:11.32. Ryan Mixon ran an 18:41.36 to finish 92nd and Jon Linton was 116th in 19:27.86.

The Lady Raiders were second with 97 out of 19 teams. Fenton was first with 69 and Goodrich was third with 143.

Flushing had two girls crack the top five with Ellie Reynolds taking fourth in 19:31.66 and Thailyia Christensen finishing fifth in 19:41.03. Lauren Smith ran a 20:59.54 to finish 25th. Riley Gaudet was 26th in 21:02.25 and Keeli Lindstrom was 37th in 21:36.14.

Flushing is at the Kayla O’Mara Invitational on Saturday at Goodrich. – K.R.


The Flushing soccer team tied 0-0 with Kearsley on the road Monday.

Last Thursday, Flushing fell 2-0 to Midland Dow. A day earlier, the Raiders tied 0-0 with Clio. Additional information was not reported.

The Swartz Creek/Flushing swim team hosted Fenton last Thursday in a 142-44 loss. Details were not made available.

The Flushing volleyball team, a Div. 1 Honorable Mention selection in the state rankings, battled back to remain undefeated in Flint Metro League play following a 10-25, 22-25, 26-24, 26-24, 15-12 win over Fenton at home Tuesday.

Maddie Morrison finished with 13 kills, 11 digs and six blocks. Taylor Wendling had 11 kills with five blocks, Harper Johnson had 18 digs and Kendyl Andrews had 44 assists with 11 digs. Belle Maynor finished with 14 digs and four aces, Larissa Luff had four aces and Maddy House, Quincy Davis and Sutton Bate all had nine kills apiece.

Flushing, 23-6-1, is at the Beast of the East tournament Saturday at Blue Lakes Sports Center. – A.V.
