Flushing was at the Bath Invitational on Saturday where the boys placed 13th with 335 out of 15 teams in the Class 1 race. Ann Arbor Skyline was first with 112, Saline second with 119 and Pewamo- Westphalia third with 123.

Nolan Herr topped the Raiders, finishing 43rd in 17:08.1. Hunter Markel ran a 17:31 to take 62nd. Jordan Buckner was 70th in 17:41.1. Braedan Tunnicliff ran a 17:46 to take 77th and Antonio Aguilar was 91st in 18:20.

The Lady Raiders were eighth with 205 out of 13 teams. Northville was first with 44, East Grand Rapids second with 53 and Ann Arbor Pioneer third with 83.

Thailyia Christensen took 23rd in 19:38.2 as the top Flushing girl. Ellie Reynolds was right behind her, taking 24th in 19:39.7. Lauren Smith ran a 20:26.3 to place 43rd. Riley Gaudet finished 54th in 21:05.8 and Keeli Lindstrom was 74th in 21:37.

Last Wednesday, Flushing was at its first Flint Metro League Jamboree taking fourth with 110. Fenton was first with 30, Holly second with 81 and Linden third with 104.

Herr took 13th in 18:13.08 to pace the Raiders. Markel was 16th in 18:23.7. Tunnicliff ran an 18:46.56 to finish 20th. Carter Johnson was 27th in 19:03.19 and Aguilar was 34th in 19:23.53.

The Lady Raiders were second with 59. Fenton took first with 33 and Linden third with 76. Flushing had two girls finish in the top ten with Christensen sixth in 20:55.32 and Smith was 10th in 21:22. Reynolds finished 12th in 21:47.31. Lindstrom ran a 21:57.81 to take 15th and Riley Shaughnessy was 19th in 22:22.56.

Flushing is at the MSU Spartan Invitational on Friday. – K.R.

GOLF

Flushing lost 191-209 at Holly on Tuesday. Annastasia Fox shot a 49, Meghan McNamara carded a 52 and Courtney Pemberton and Lizzie Phillips each had 54s. Ramsey Lechota rounded it out with a 56.

The Raiders topped Linden 229-261 on Monday. Julia Hagler shot a 53 and Lechota carded a 57.

“The girls are starting to hit some stride and are playing better,” said Flushing coach Kellen Lister. “It was a close match and came down to the last few holes and that’s when our girls started to pull away. I am proud of the girls and they keep working hard to improve.”

The Raiders welcomed Brandon last Thursday and sealed a Flint Metro League win, 217-258. Fox shot a 49 to lead the field for Flushing.

“It was nice to see Annastasia break 50,” said Lister. “She is more than capable and played well last year but has gotten off to a slow start. It was a much-needed win and now we go on to Linden on the 10th.” – B.P.

SWIM AND DIVE

The Swartz Creek/Flushing swim team took a rare loss at home Tuesday, 103- 83. They won the 200 freestyle relay with Delanie Moulton, Caitlynn Kruyer, Maddy Mckown and Maddie Kranz finishing in 1:55.42. Kranz was also second in the 100 butterfly in 1:10.16 and Moulton was second in the 100 freestyle in 1:04.42.

Paige Cram claimed second in the 200 freestyle in 2:26.92 and Kranz was second in the 50 freestyle in 27.54. – B.P.

Flushing broke Holly’s 107 match unbeaten streak dating back to 1999. No. 1-3 singles had decisive victories and came off the courts first, then Flushing lost at No. 4 singles, won at four doubles to go up 4-1, and then the No. 1 Doubles team of Besko and Birchmeier clinched the victory.
