2018 Harvest Festival Chili Cook Off

FLUSHING — The Flushing Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual Chili Cook Off as part of this year’s Harvest Festival on Sept 29. Bring your secret recipe and all of your cooking equipment to downtown Flushing and prove your chili prowess. This cook-off is open to all categories of chili (vegetarian, red, white etc.) and prizes will be awarded to the top three winners. The public will be the judges, deciding who makes Flushing’s best chili. Limited tent space and table area are available for an additional $10 fee. — B.G.

Harvest Festival raffle tickets available

FLUSHING — Get ready to score some prizes at the 2018 Harvest Festival Outdoor Raffle on Sept. 29. Six items will be up for a drawing this year, including rifles, fishing poles, a kayak, golf club set and a camping tent. The cost is $5 per ticket. Tickets are available at the Flushing Chamber of Commerce office and Chemical Bank before and during the festival. — B.G.

Tricks for Treats

FLUSHING — Key-Lore Kanine Kountry Klub will be hosting a Halloween celebration for dogs at the 12th Annual Tricks for Treats on Oct. 27. There will be a costume contest, mutt masquerade, treat trail and vendors at Key-Lore’s Woof Woods Dog Park. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Genesee County. Cub Scouts looking for new members

FLUSHING – Come join Cub Scouts Pack 42 for a sign-up night, Sept. 13 at Elms Elementary School in Flushing. The event starts at 6 p.m. and provides new and prospective members with necessary info on the Cub Scouts. Each new scout will receive a free handbook for their grade level.
