Flushing defeated Kearsley, 10-0, 10-0, both games in six innings, at home Monday.

Alex Bowden pitched the opener with one strikeout in six innings and Dominick Carvounis had two hits and three RBI. Brendan Murphy added two hits and a RBI, Logan Walker had a hit, three runs and three RBI and Nick Powers a hit and two RBI.

Carvounis won on the mound in the nightcap with four fanned batters and Murphy had four hits, three runs and a RBI. Donny Snyder put up two hits and an RBI and Jayson Solak had a hit, two runs and two RBI.

The Raiders were dominant in last Thursday’s 8-0, 13-8 triumph over Owosso at home.

Kyle Thonn pitched the opener and had five strikeouts in seven innings, giving up only one hit. Walker racked up four hits and an RBI and Snyder added three hits and two RBI. Bowden had three hits and an RBI and Carvounis two hits and a RBI.

Solak got the win in the finale with three strikeouts in five innings, surrendering just four hits. Bowden had three hits and four RBI, Murphy added three hits and an RBI and Walker two hits and two RBI. Grayson Makranyi tallied two hits and an RBI and Luke Kenrick had two hits.

GOLF

The Flushing boys’ golf team fell to Kearsley 178-185 during a home Flint Metro League match on Tuesday.

Nick Brown led the entire field with a 40 on the day. Dylan Stankewicz added a 42, Andrew Nestor carded a 46 and Max Baxter finished with a 178.

Last Wednesday, Flushing defeated Clio 178-200 at Clio Country Club.

Both Brown and Jack Desotelle finished with a pair of 43s to lead the team, while Stankewicz carded a 45 and Andrew Lum had a 47.

Flushing hosts an invitational tomorrow. – A.V.

SOFTBALL

The Lady Raiders were held scoreless 12-0, 15-0 by Kearlsey on Monday.

Kearsley scored two in the first, eight in the third and two in the fifth to take the early win.

Hailey Mills swallowed the loss, striking out two and allowing nine hits, 12 runs and four walks. Haley Beaudry, Addisen Wagner and Madison McKnight had one hit each.

In the nightcap, Kearsley scored four in the first, five in the second, three in the third and three in the fifth. Mills threw all five innings, striking out five and allowing 13 hits, 15 runs and four walks. Savanah Miller and Chloe Nicholas had a hit each.

Flushing split a doubleheader with Owosso 6-3, 1-12 last Thursday.

Flushing grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning in the early game and added two in the third and one in the sixth. Owosso scored one in the second, one in the third and one in the seventh. Mills struck out three and surrendered 10 hits and three runs from the mound.

Beaudry was 2-for-4 from the plate with two runs. Anna Schutte was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. McKnight added a hit, two RBI and two runs. Jayna Clark and Madalyn VanLandeghem had one hit each.

In the nightcap, Flushing’s lone run came in the third inning. Owosso scored three in the first, three in the second, two in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the sixth. Mills took the loss and struck out three while allowing 15 hits, 12 runs and two walks.

Abbey Gordon was 2-for- 2 with a run scored. Makaya Evans was 1-for-2 with an RBI. VanLandeghem also added a hit.

Flushing, 4-16, is at Brandon today and hosts Clio on Monday.
