LAKE FENTON — The Lady Raiders’ lacrosse team will open the state tournament at Lake Fenton in a pre-regional game on Monday at 6 p.m.

“Our expectations are to play hard and play fast,” stated Flushing coach Ben Guzak. “Our Lady Raiders team is young. We have continued to improve all season and that is what I expect from them in playoffs.”

However, Flushing will be shorthanded with its captain and most experience player Peyton Perani sidelined for the remainder of the season with an injury. With the loss, the Lady Raiders will rely on goalie Kennedy Hobson to step up.

“We do have some young up-and-coming strong players to lead our team,” continued Guzak. “Our goalie, Kennedy Hobson, has been the heart of our team and has improved greatly.”

The winner of the opening game will advance to the regional first around against Grand Ledge, which will take place next Wednesday at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will take on the winner of Flint Powers- Okemos in the regional semifinals on May 30.

Heading into the tournament, Flushing is 3-8-2 overall.
