Baseball team sweeps Swartz Creek, Lake Fenton

Photo by Todd Boone SWARTZ CREEK – Flushing traveled to Swartz Creek on Monday, earning the Flint Metro League sweep, 9-2, 5-0. Alex Bowden threw six innings and struck out nine and Daniel Fridline hurled the final inning without allowing a run. Dominick Carvounis piled up four hits and three runs and Zack Boshaw added two hits and two RBI.

Nick Powers had two hits and a RBI, Mason George and Alex Bowden each accumulated a pair of hits and Cole Smith had one hit and three RBI.

Nick Powers struck out six in the nightcap and Brendan Murphy had two hits and three RBI. Donny Snyder put up two hits and a RBI, Matt Birchmeier had two hits and Boshaw added one hit.

The Raiders were at Lake Fenton last Thursday in tough conditions, winning big in game one, 17-2 in four innings, and then 6-2 in the finale. Kyle Thon fanned four in the opener, while Jake Besko racked up two hits and two RBI.

Murphy, Bowden and Smith each totaled two hits and a RBI and Powers added a pair of hits. Snyder and Logan Walker were responsible for a hit and three RBI each.

Jayson Solak won in the nightcap with one strikeout in four innings of work and also had two hits and a RBI. Boshaw chipped in with two hits and a RBI.

Flushing is now 16-7 overall, 5-3 Flint Metro League, and hosts Owosso today.
