MCC Fine Arts Gallery will feature alumnus

FLINT — The Mott Community College (MCC) Fine Arts Gallery in the Visual Arts and Design Center will present an exhibition of ceramic sculpture by former MCC Art and Design student Rebecca (Miller) Casement titled Sojourns.

Her exhibition will be in the gallery through April 24. In addition, Casement will give a public presentation about her work on Thursday, April 19 at noon in the Visual Arts and Design Center, room 129. These events are made possible in part by the Ballenger Trust.

Casement is currently a candidate for the MFA, Michigan State University, Department of Art, Art History and Design. She received a BFA in Ceramics from Michigan State University, Department of Art, Art History and Design and an Associate in Fine Arts from MCC in 2014.

She has been the Instructor of Record for courses in Ceramics and Foundations Drawing, Department of Art, Art History and Design, Michigan State University and taught Art Education, grades K-8 at Saint Mary’s Elementary School in Mt. Morris.

Casement has exhibited her work at: Caregiver, Solo Installation, Kresge Art Center, Michigan State University; Artistic Exploration National Exhibition, Buckham Gallery; and Damned Art National Exhibition, Tangent Gallery in Detroit.

Casement’s Artist Statement is titled Sojourn.

The Fine Arts Gallery is located in the Visual Arts and Design Center on the Mott Community College main campus in Flint. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Free and open to the public. Details: Call 810-762-0443. — G.G.
