Getting it right

In last week’s The Flushing View, a photo was attached to our “Year in Review” article re-printed from the Flushing View archives. The photo’s cutline read “(L) Flushing City Mayor Kevin Keane honors (R) Rotary Club of Flushing’s current president Kristy Brown with a proclamation for their outstanding and continued service during its 25 years in the community.” The photo is a from a June 8 issue, showing Chuck Donaldson from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and former City Councilwoman Teresa Salem. FASC registration for Senior Winter Games

FLUSHING – The Flushing Area Senior Center has open registration for the 40th annual Genesee County Senior Winter Games until Jan. 11. Registration is $12 per person and includes a Senior Winter Games t-shirt and a ticket to the closing ceremony banquet on Feb. 22. Swiss Steak Dinner at Masonic Lodge

FLUSHING – Flushing Masonic Lodge is having a Swiss Steak Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 21. The dinner, costing $10 per person, will be held at Flushing Masonic Center, 349 located on S. Seymour Rd, Flushing. Take-outs are available, and the public is welcome. The lodge encourages everyone to join for dinner with good friends and great food. – S.T.

Flushing K of C 8th annual Chili Cook-Off

FLUSHING – The Flushing Knights of Columbus will hold their 8th annual Chili Cook- Off on Jan. 23, in the St. Robert Angel Hall located at 310 North Cherry Street in Flushing. The cook-off starts at 6 p.m. and judging begins at 6:30 p.m. Awards will be presented for the Audience Favorite and Judges Favorite. It is $5 per person, or toilet paper rolls will be accepted for donation to the Flushing Christian Outreach Center. For more information, call Jacob at 810-223- 2197. – S.T.

Tax aid available to seniors

SWARTZ CREEK – Beginning in February, IRScertified tax counselors will provide tax services to senior citizens at the Swartz Creek Area Senior Center. Appointments are now being scheduled. Services are by appointment only. Call 635-4122. In addition, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, a volunteer tax preparation and assistance service, is looking for volunteers to help taxpayers complete tax returns. Experience is not necessary; training on the software and tax forms is provided. For more information, call the number above. – L.R.
