The Raiders ran at the Portage Invite on Saturday, where the boys were 37th out of 49 teams. Flushing finished with 977 points. Ann Arbor Pioneer was first with 88, Romeo second with 123 and Saline third with 136.

In a field of 343 runners, Jared Lindstrom led the Flushing boys and finished 103rd in 17:38.3. Nolan Herr was 143rd in 17:54.6. Carter Johnson was 214th in 18:31.7. Hunter Markel was 238th in 18:46.6 and Caleb Kriesch was 291st in 19:30.3.

The Flushing girls were 29th out of 44 teams with 640 points. Rockford was first with 116, Ann Arbor Pioneer second with 143 and Northville third with 144. Thailyia Christensen was the Flushing girls’ top runner on the day, finishing 56th in 20:16 out of 293 runners. Brooklyn Thuma was 130th in 21:17.6. Keeli Lindstrom was 137th in 21:21.2. Lauren Smith was 140th in 21:24.2 and Ellie Reynolds was 195th in 22:13.2.

Flushing will be at the Kayla O’Mara Invite at Goodrich on Saturday. – K.R.


The Raiders shut out Genesee Christian 2-0 Tuesday. Nick Morrison and A.J. Schuessler led the offense with one goal apiece.

Last Wednesday, Flushing defeated league-opponent Clio on the road 2-1. Morrison and Gabriel Rodriguez were Flushing’s goal scorers.

Flushing was at Kearsley on Wednesday after press deadlines and will compete in its first district game on Tuesday at Swartz Creek at 6 p.m. – A.V.

The Raiders lost to Fenton 15-25, 24-26, 25-1, 18-25 Tuesday. Maddie Morrison led Flushing with 17 kills and 15 digs. Parkur Launstein had a team-high 27 assists and also five aces. Harper Johnson contributed 13 digs and five aces. Belle Maynor also added 26 digs.

Flushing is now 4-2 in Metro League play and 18-15-1 overall. — J.O.
