Euchre tournaments

FLUSHING - The Flushing Knights of Columbus, Flushing Council, a nonprofit organization, is sponsoring a euchre tournament once a month. The tournaments are held at St. Roberts Parish, Angel Hall, 310 N Cherry St. Play began on September 8 and will continue on October 13 and November 10. Registration begins at 6 p.m. and play starts at 6:30 p.m. - S.T.

Springview Elementary PTO looking for Santa’s Workshop vendors

FLUSHING -- The Springview Elementary PTO needs crafters and vendors for Santa’s Workshop, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 6. Setup begins at 4:15 p.m. and all items – considering it will be children shopping for families – must cost $10 or less. It is $20 for an 8-foot table. Library Book Sale this month

FLUSHING - The Friends of the Flushing Area Library will hold their annual book sale on three dates in October in the Flushing Area Senior Center’s annex, located at 106 Elm St. The dates are as follows: Thursday, October 12, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Early Bird Sale for Members Only); Friday, October 13, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Open to Public); and Saturday, October 14, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Open to Public, $2 bags all day). Coats for Kids registration

FLINT -- Genesee County families who need assistance with toys, coats and food to ensure a blessed Christmas holiday for their children can apply for The Salvation Army’s 2017 Christmas Assistance program. Sign-up will be held at the Flint Citadel Corps in downtown Flint. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27. Families may apply to only one agency for Christmas Assistance. To sign up, the following documents are required: Michigan I.D. and Social Security Cards for all adults in the household; proof of dependents in the home (birth certificates and Social Security cards) and proof of legal guardianship, if applicable; current bills with the name and address of the individual applying for assistance; proof of income for the last 30 days. – L.R.

Job fair

FLINT – The Genesee Intermediate School District, in partnership with 21 Genesee County public school districts, is hosting a countywide job fair seeking bus drivers and transportation aides to transport students in various programs throughout the county. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Genesee Career Institute Innovation Zone, G-5081 Torrey Road.
