The Raiders’ bowling squads competed in the Carman- Ainsworth Invitational Singles tournament on Sunday and Nick Warren qualified for the top 32. Jordynn Matheson made the final 16 and was a member of the All-Tournament team. Matheson also bowl a 256 to set the pace for the day. Chase Fleming was the most successful Raider on Sunday, reaching the final eight to finish fifth. Fleming rolled his first ever 300-game. “I want to emphasize the word ‘first’ because I feel there will be more going forward in his bowling resume,” said Flushing coach Jerry Croteau about Fleming. Both squads had the opportunity to secure a lone hold on the second-place spot in the Flint Metro League on Saturday, but only the Lady Raiders came away with success after defeating Swartz Creek 24-6. The Lady Raiders split the Baker games with Swartz Creek, 983-823 and 918-760, to take a 6-4 lead heading into the individual matches. Matheson set the pace for the girls with games of 224 and 214. Calugaru had SCF’s final two goals of the game, with assists by Carlson and Harburn. “Our team competed hard in both games and played well,” added SCF coach Ben Guzak.
