Run Like a Wildebeest – Thank you
Our 2016 Run Like a Wildebeest (Greg Flint’s Run) event was another great success. We had over 650 registered runners for this year’s races (5K, 10K, and Little Wildebeest). We were able to donate a total of $7,000 to the Flushing Christian Outreach Center, the Thomas Smith Memorial Foundation, the Flushing Community Church Mercy Fund, and Flushing’s Track & Cross Country programs.
In addition, we were able to provide $6,000 in scholarships to five Flushing High School seniors. In our first five years, we have now distributed over $60,000 for scholarships, charities, and Flushing Track and Cross Country.
The Run Like a Wildebeest committee would like to thank the Flushing City Council and the city manager for allowing us to run this race. Also, a big thank you to the Flushing Police for helping us with traffic control and the Flushing DPW for the use of their traffic cones and barricades. Of course, this race would not be possible without our sponsors, volunteers, and all of the participating runners and walkers.
We hope to be back next year for another fun-filled event! -- Run Like a Wildebeest committee, Flushing
