Flushing Historical Society to hear talk about Ford

FLUSHING — The Flushing Area Historical Society will hear from speaker Steve Burton, Sept. 21, at 7:30 p.m. when he speaks to the group regarding the Ford Motor Company’s history and his Model A Ford.

The meeting will be at the Flushing Area Museum (The Depot), 431 W. Main St., at the railroad road tracks.

Burton, who has been retired for more than a year due to orthopedic surgery. He has been working on his Model A Ford for 56 years.

Along the way, he said he became interested in Henry Ford and the history of the Ford Motor Company.

Since his retirement, he has had more time to work on his five Model A Fords and do research on Henry Ford.

He said he is active in the Model A Restorers Club and is currently serving as Vice President of the Script “A” club serving the Flint, Saginaw, and Bay City area.

Burton will speak on the History of the Ford Motor Co. from the beginning up to the 1930s and will have a power point presentation on several of the early cars.

Weather permitting, some of the club members may bring their cars for viewing half-hour before the start of the program. The program is free and open to the public.
