“Starting a Business” class now offered online

FLINT – A one hour online version of the “Starting a Business” seminar will be offered

Sept. 22 from 10-11 a.m. by the I-69 Trade Corridor/Thumb Region of The Michigan Small Business Development Center (MI-SBDC) based at Kettering University in Flint. The “webinar” is available to anyone located anywhere in the state. Participants will need a fast internet connection, a good working computer with microphone and speakers, and an up to date browser.

“Starting a Business” is designed for individuals who are considering self-employment, or who may be at the beginning stages of starting a business. This introductory seminar covers the process of starting and operating a business, evaluating market potential for products/services, costs and financing options, plus business planning for their products/services. This live webinar is a 1-hour audio and slide presentation of a more in depth classroom version, which is also still available at various times and locations around the state.

The I-69 Trade Corridor Region of the Michigan Small Business Development Center (MI-SBDC) is part of a statewide network funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U. S. Small Business Administration, providing no cost counseling, training, information-based planning assistance, and resources for any new ventures, existing and growing businesses, and innovative technology ventures.

H&R Block hosts income tax course

BURTON — With annual enrollment for H&R Block’s Income Tax Course now open in the Michigan area, H&R Block is also hosting an open house in Burton on Thursday Sept. 17 from 6-8 p.m. to talk to interested students about the classes.

“The H&R Block Income Tax Course is a great opportunity to learn new skills from an industry leader. We will teach students to prepare taxes like a pro and help students who want to better understand their own taxes,” said Matt Schaar, tax professional for H&R Block. “Students can learn something new and could potentially earn extra money.”

Those attending the open house will have an opportunity to talk with H&R Block tax professionals about the class curriculum, format and schedules, bilingual options and scholarship opportunities for military spouses.
